Volkswagen · all keys lost
Volkswagen all keys lostmobile, at your vehicle, 24/7
“I have lost every key to the vehicle” — that is the call we take on Volkswagens most days. With no working key the new key has to be created from the vehicle itself rather than copied. That means reading the key code or the lock, producing the key, and pairing it to the immobiliser. It takes longer than a spare, and it is still done where the vehicle is parked — no recovery truck.
How Volkswagen keys work
Volkswagen uses flip keys across Polo, Golf, Passat and the Transporter and Caddy vans, with keyless entry and start on higher trims of Golf, Tiguan and T-Roc.
Transporter and Caddy vans are among the makes we are called to most often, usually on a driveway first thing in the morning.
What this job includes
- New key created from the vehicle, not copied
- Lost keys deleted so they can never start the car again
- No tow to a dealer and no main-dealer wait
- Strict proof-of-ownership check before work begins
Volkswagen jobs we're called to
- Spare flip key for a Golf or Polo
- All keys lost on a Transporter or Caddy
- Replacement key after theft of the original

Volkswagen models and years
Wide coverage across the range; the newest keyless systems are checked on the registration first. Key compatibility depends on model, year and key system — send your registration and we will confirm availability and price before anyone travels.

How long a Volkswagen all keys lost takes
The longest of the four. With nothing to copy, the key has to be produced from the Volkswagen itself and paired to the immobiliser, so allow considerably more time on site than a spare-key visit.
What decides the price
All keys lost costs more than any other key job on the same Volkswagen — not because of the key, but because of the decoding and programming work needed when no working key exists. It is still normally well below a dealer plus recovery.
Volkswagen all keys lost FAQs
- My Volkswagen is on a driveway with no keys at all — do I need it towed?
- Almost never. The whole point of the mobile service is that the key is created at the vehicle. Recovery is only relevant in the rare case where the key system genuinely has to go to a dealer, and we tell you that before you pay anything.
- What proof do I need for an all-keys-lost Volkswagen job?
- Photo ID in your name plus V5C, insurance, hire agreement or purchase paperwork tying you to the vehicle. This is the job where we are strictest, because creating a key with no key present is exactly what a thief would want.
- Can the lost Volkswagen keys still start my car afterwards?
- Not if we delete them, which we recommend on every lost-key job. Once removed from the vehicle they are inert plastic even if someone finds them with your address.
- Are newer Volkswagens covered?
- Wide coverage across the range; the newest keyless systems are checked on the registration first.
