Audi · key replacement
Audi key replacementmobile, at your vehicle, 24/7
“I need a new key for my car” — that is the call we take on Audis most days. A replacement key is created and paired to your vehicle at the roadside or on your driveway. Where the key has a blade it is cut to your locks; where it is a proximity fob the work is entirely electronic. The vehicle never leaves you.
How Audi keys work
Audi runs flip keys on A1, A3 and older A4/A6, and proximity keys with keyless go on later and higher-specification cars including Q-series SUVs.
Two Audis of the same model year can carry different key systems depending on options, which is exactly why we price on the registration rather than the badge.
What this job includes
- Key supplied, cut where applicable and programmed to the vehicle
- Tested on locks, ignition or start button before we leave
- Old keys can be deleted so a lost key can no longer start the car
- Photo ID and proof of ownership checked before any work
Audi jobs we're called to
- Spare key for an A3 or A4
- Replacement key after a loss
- All keys lost on a Q3 or Q5
- Key fob no longer recognised by the car
Audi models and years
Most mainstream Audis are workable at the vehicle; some later systems are dealer-only and we will say so rather than waste your time. Key compatibility depends on model, year and key system — send your registration and we will confirm availability and price before anyone travels.
How the visit runs
- 1. Send registration and vehicle details
- 2. We confirm key type and price
- 3. Technician attends at a time that suits you
- 4. Key cut, programmed and tested with you present

How long a Audi key replacement takes
A straight replacement sits between a spare and an all-keys-lost job. If you still hold a working key it is quick; if the lost key was your only one, it becomes the all-keys-lost route below and takes longer.
What decides the price
Price is driven by the key type (Audi bladed remote versus proximity fob), the model year, and whether a working key still exists. That is why we ask for the registration before quoting rather than after arriving.
Audi key replacement FAQs
- Will my old Audi key still work after a replacement?
- Only if you want it to. If a key has been lost or stolen we can delete it from the vehicle so it can never start the car again — say so when you book, because it means bringing every remaining key to the visit.
- Is a replacement key from you the same as a dealer key?
- It performs the same job — lock, unlock and start — and is programmed to your Audi in the same way. We are mobile and come to the vehicle, which is the practical difference for most people.
- Are newer Audis covered?
- Most mainstream Audis are workable at the vehicle; some later systems are dealer-only and we will say so rather than waste your time.
