How Range Rover keys work
Range Rovers use proximity (smart) keys rather than a bladed key you turn. The car recognises the key over radio, so a replacement has to be paired to the vehicle electronically — a cut blade on its own will not start it. The emergency blade hidden inside the fob is only for opening the door if the battery dies.
Evoque, Velar, Sport and Vogue all use proximity keys, but the key system and the programming route are not the same across generations — an early Evoque and a current Sport are very different jobs. Tell us the registration and we will tell you which system your car has before anyone travels.

How long a Range Rover key programming takes
Programming alone is usually a short visit, because there is no key to source and often nothing to cut — it is the electronic half of a key job on its own.
What decides the price
Programming-only is the least expensive visit of the four, since you are not paying for the key itself. If the fob you supply turns out to be incompatible with your Range Rover, we will tell you on inspection rather than charging for a failed attempt.
