Range Rover · key replacement
Range Rover key replacementmobile, at your vehicle, 24/7
“I need a new key for my car” — that is the call we take on Range Rovers most days. A replacement key is created and paired to your vehicle at the roadside or on your driveway. Where the key has a blade it is cut to your locks; where it is a proximity fob the work is entirely electronic. The vehicle never leaves you.
How Range Rover keys work
Range Rovers use proximity (smart) keys rather than a bladed key you turn. The car recognises the key over radio, so a replacement has to be paired to the vehicle electronically — a cut blade on its own will not start it. The emergency blade hidden inside the fob is only for opening the door if the battery dies.
Evoque, Velar, Sport and Vogue all use proximity keys, but the key system and the programming route are not the same across generations — an early Evoque and a current Sport are very different jobs. Tell us the registration and we will tell you which system your car has before anyone travels.
What this job includes
- Key supplied, cut where applicable and programmed to the vehicle
- Tested on locks, ignition or start button before we leave
- Old keys can be deleted so a lost key can no longer start the car
- Photo ID and proof of ownership checked before any work
Range Rover jobs we're called to
- Spare smart key added while the original still works
- Replacement key after the only fob was lost or damaged
- All keys lost — new key created from the vehicle
- Key not detected / fob unresponsive after a battery or water issue
Range Rover models and years
Coverage runs across current model years, but availability on the newest Range Rovers depends on the exact key system fitted. We confirm on the registration rather than making a blanket claim. Key compatibility depends on model, year and key system — send your registration and we will confirm availability and price before anyone travels.
How the visit runs
- 1. Send registration and vehicle details
- 2. We confirm key type and price
- 3. Technician attends at a time that suits you
- 4. Key cut, programmed and tested with you present

How long a Range Rover key replacement takes
A straight replacement sits between a spare and an all-keys-lost job. If you still hold a working key it is quick; if the lost key was your only one, it becomes the all-keys-lost route below and takes longer.
What decides the price
Price is driven by the key type (Range Rover bladed remote versus proximity fob), the model year, and whether a working key still exists. That is why we ask for the registration before quoting rather than after arriving.
Range Rover key replacement FAQs
- Will my old Range Rover key still work after a replacement?
- Only if you want it to. If a key has been lost or stolen we can delete it from the vehicle so it can never start the car again — say so when you book, because it means bringing every remaining key to the visit.
- Is a replacement key from you the same as a dealer key?
- It performs the same job — lock, unlock and start — and is programmed to your Range Rover in the same way. We are mobile and come to the vehicle, which is the practical difference for most people.
- Are newer Range Rovers covered?
- Coverage runs across current model years, but availability on the newest Range Rovers depends on the exact key system fitted. We confirm on the registration rather than making a blanket claim.
